The MTV logo appeals to the target audience as it includes a black stencil M with a graffiti style TV going across the M. This is a young and funky logo which appeals to the audience as this is a stereotype of teenagers and automatically gives of a sense of what music may be played on the television music channel.

The Magic logo appeals to the target audience as it is quite plain and simple with not a lot going on. This could be seen to be harsh however does provide a stereotype of an older audience. This is because they have a chilled and relaxed lifestyle with not a lot going on, therefore they have time to watch and listen to the calm music that magic provide.

The AKA logo is conventional to the rap and grunge genre as it shows a black bold "AKA" with a red man leaning against it wearing a hat looking like a typical gangster representation. The title looks eye-catching and bold which makes it stand out and look strong and superior from the rest of the music channels. Audiences may see this logo and believe if they listen to this type of music then they will begin to follow a stronger yet more gangster lifestyle which they may be interested in doing.

I think that music television channels are important in appealing to a target audience as they   provide entertainment and appropriate material for their target audience to maintain the focus and loyal fans to the channel. Having this type of entertainment provided throughout 24 hours a day the target audience can ensure that they will enjoy whats on the channel at any time of day. This will ensure the audience to carry on watching the channel and even help for them to promote the channel to their friends and family. It will also maintain the level of viewings and business to the channel.
I think that there is a variety of music channels as they need to ensure their is a channel to fit every type of preference that the target audience may have. For example there will be people that like Pop music and people who like rock music so hey therefore won't be able to please the audience at all points of the day if they was to just create one music channel. By creating music channels specific to a genre their fans can log onto that channel and expect their favourite music to play at all times which avoids disappointment from their audience and helps them to maintain a steady audience benefit.

I have learnt from analysing music channels that there is a vast amount of different genres of music that all different types of audiences enjoy and their are many different preferences from audiences. I also believe that this will help me in my own production as I can research the types of things that my target audience would expect and enjoy to see in my target audience which are also conventional to my genre and include them in my video to make it successful, enjoyable and conventional.
I am thinking of creating a music video from the Indie genre. I want to create one from this genre as I think the conventions of the genre are very easy to apply into my own music video. These include things such as deserted settings such as fields and also slower paced editing and music to ensure it is conventional to the indie genre.

  1. This post demonstrates some proficient understanding of how music channels appeal to an audience. You have focused upon five different channels and have considered the role of the audience well, through focusing on the music artists, logos and schedules, but you need to ensure that this is consistent throughout, as some of your analysis points need to be discussed further, as some points are rather minimal.

    You also need to:
    1) Consider the roles of branding, by considering what other media texts are associated with the channel
    2) Start considering what type of music genre, your music video will be and why?
    3) Include the summary points from the lesson
